Hey there. Thanks for stopping by.
I’m a longtime songwriter and released my first album, Rose of Jericho, in 2020. It was named Album of the Year at the 2021 New Mexico Music Awards, and won some other awards as well, which was cool.
My latest album, Durable Goods, was released in November, 2023 to some applause and nice local radio play.
I was born and raised in Southport, Indiana, a couple generations removed from the Jackson County family farm. I grew up around music. My mother, a graphic artist, played piano and sang in church choirs. While my dad, a California-born salesman, had eclectic musical tastes and brought home albums from the library, like Leadbelly, Skip James, Billie Holliday and other blues greats. And my big brother, a guy I’ve always depended on for his good ears, introduced me to lots of important music when I was coming up. Still does.
Like most of my buddies, I was a basketball-obsessed kid. But due to limited skills, I got cut from the high school team. So with more free time I picked up my brother’s old Stella guitar and learned to play.
Soon after, influenced by the era’s singer-songwriters, I started writing and singing my own songs. Then through high school and college I wrote, played, and occasionally performed, both alone and with bands.
With an art degree and few discernible skills, I moved to Colorado and started teaching. This led to my living in Denver for many years, working in education and playing some music. I was a longtime member of The Schoolboys, a dance band with the motto, “Songs you love played by people you like,” and we were absolutely likable.
I’ve since decamped to the high desert outside of Santa Fe. Now, in addition to making music, I’m a rug weaver, running Estambre Studios with my wife Linda.
Shameless plug: Our rugs can be found online via Etsy and at Luca Decor gallery, 225 Canyon Road in Santa Fe and at the Weems Gallery in Albuquerque. They’re quite nice.
